The 8th of March is International Women’s Day, a day to celebrate, promote and support women all around the world. I was raised by strong women to believe that I could truly be or do anything that I set my mind to.
As a boy mama I feel strongly that it is my responsibility to demonstrate to little man that just because he has the privilege of being born a white male does not give him the right to more than anyone else. I have no idea what journey he will take in his life, but I feel strongly that it is vital he is taught to be respectful to all genders, that he understand his privilege and use it to champion those without and that he never discriminate – on any factor.
I want my son to grow up in a world where all genders are treated equally, that your station in life has nothing to do with your gender and everything to do with how hard you work and how kind you are.
I can’t change the world for him, I genuinely wish that I could, but I can encourage him to do his bit to change the world.
What one message would you want to give to your children on this International Women’s Day?
